We built Attiris because we were tired of that story.
The Plus-Size Problem Nobody Wants to Talk About
Here's an uncomfortable truth: most Indian fashion brands treat plus-size as a niche, not a majority. But walk through any wedding, any office, any street in this country, and you'll see the truth — bodies come in every size, and most of them are being ignored by an industry that still designs for a narrow, imaginary "average" woman.
The result? Women who:
- Buy a size up and alter it themselves because nothing fits right
- Settle for shapeless, "safe" silhouettes because that's all that's available past XL
- Pay more for plus-size options that offer less — fewer prints, fewer styles, fewer colors
- Feel like fashion is something happening around them, not for them
This isn't a small gap. It's a design failure at the heart of how Indian fashion thinks about the female body.
Why the Plus-Size Gap Keeps Happening
It's not that inclusive sizing is hard. It's that most brands don't think it's worth the effort.
Grading a design across a wider size range means more fabric planning, more pattern adjustments, more testing, more cost. It's easier — and cheaper — to stop at XL and call it done. So that's what most brands do.
We think that's a shortcut at the expense of the women actually wearing the clothes.
What We're Doing Differently for Plus-Size Women at Attiris
When we started Attiris, inclusive sizing wasn't a marketing angle we bolted on later — it was a non-negotiable from day one. Alongside our regular sizing, we built a dedicated collection designed specifically for 3XL to 8XL — not sizes tacked onto an existing design as an afterthought, but pieces considered for that range from the first sketch.
That means:
Fit that's actually considered, not just scaled up. Designing for 3XL to 8XL isn't "take the small size and make it bigger" — proportions, drape, and placement of prints all need to shift with the body. We design with that in mind from the start, rather than stretching a pattern that was never meant to go there.
Real craftsmanship, at every size. Our artisan partners hand-block print and naturally dye every piece — the 8XL gets the same attention as any other size we make. Nobody should have to choose between their size and their craftsmanship.
